Seaport Village

For spring break, my family decided to go to San Diego to tour some schools. It ended up being such an amazing trip. I got to see some colleges, and we also had lots of time to explore the area (and eat some good food)!

On Thursday, we toured UCSD. This school is amazing. The campus is really nice, the location doesn’t get much better, the people I met were really nice, and the academic opportunities are great. I’m really glad that I toured the campus and got a better feel for it. I think I could see myself there. Tours end up being a lot of walking and information, so my family and I took a few lounge breaks :) We ended the day with Din Tai Fung which was nice.

On Friday, we had a completely free day to just explore the area. We got to do some of my favorite things: eat, relax on the beach, and window shop! It started off with an early morning run along the water front. It was perfect weather for a run, with just a little mist in the air. It was so beautiful running along the water.

For breakfast, we went to a place in La Jolla called Sugar and Scribe. I heard about it from a travel magazine I was flipping through, and I’m glad we checked it out. It was such a cute spot, with lots of natural light and beautiful pastries lined up in the display case. They serve both breakfast and pastries, so my family and I ordered eggs benedict for breakfast and finished with a small, delicious tart.

After breakfast, we walked around La Jolla a bit and then we made our way to La Jolla Shores. This was my favorite part of the day. It was so relaxing and serene, looking out into the ocean. I could’ve spent the whole day just lying on the sand, listening to music, and basking in the sun.

We ended the night walking along the water and then spontaneously decided to try riding on some motorized scooters. It was kind of fun seeing my parents riding the scooters along the waterfront :) I sped down the dock on full speed, which was pretty daring for me.

The next morning, we got up to tour the University of San Diego. This is another great school. Great environment, great campus, and the academics seem good. The views from the campus are spectacular too. I honestly don’t know how I’m going to choose a college…there will be lots of of pros and cons lists being made in the next few weeks.

It’s starting to really sink in that I’ll be leaving for college in just a few short months. I feel excited, nervous, sad, and happy about it. But thankfully, right now I’m still here with my family and my friends, living where I’m living, and I have lots to look forward to!

San Diego is truly an incredible city. It has such a great balance of beautiful city and serene beach, the weather is amazing, there’s so much to do, and there’s a lot of good food spots too. I think this city has my heart…who knows, maybe I’ll be back very soon.
